Bowling For A Cause 9.14.19
Exciting news!! To date, we have been able to raise a little over $9,000 to support our mission of helping children in Senegal reach their dreams by supporting their educational needs!!! This means that Sunu Foundation can fund JAM Summer Camp for the same participants as last year (and hopefully any new young people that would like to attend) and purchase a year’s worth of school supplies to distribute at Gouye Mbaye Elementary School in Kebemere, Senegal for the second year.
Sunu Foundation will additionally be able to distribute backpacks and school supplies to a new school, Dogandou Elementary School in Pire, Senegal. We are expanding our reach further into the community thanks to your generosity!
After the Sunu Foundation Team in Senegal met with staff at Dogandou Elementary School they quickly realized this school could greatly benefit from more help. Even though we’ve exceeded what we were able to do in year one already, we are not stopping with our fundraising efforts in year two. Sunu Foundation would like to fund the construction of a (permanent) third classroom so that Dogandou Elementary School can reach the needs of more students. Their current third classroom has thatch walls, and the other two classrooms really are one large room with a thatch divider. We would also really like to build a bathroom and add plumbing for running water. You read that correctly. The whole elementary school is one room with no indoor bathroom or water.
