In less than a week, Sunu Foundation reached its goal of raising $1500 to help protect the youth and families we have been working with the last two years in the Medina community of Senegal (where J.A.M. camp is held). Thanks to your timely generosity, the Sunu team members in Senegal were able to gather and distribute 500 masks, as well as 1378 lbs of rice, 298 lbs of sugar, and 34 lbs of cooking oil in small care packages to support the needs of youth we currently aid. Dear Sunu Foundation Supporters, Based on feedback from our Sunu team members on the ground in Senegal, the Sunu Foundation feels compelled to take action.  In an effort to support the wellbeing of youth we currently aid in the Medina community of Senegal (where J. A. M. camp is held), the Sunu Foundation aims to raise funds to put together small care packages for youth and their families. It’s a new year and thanks to your support, Dogandou Elementary has a NEW CLASSROOM! It’s finally done and my goodness are the children overjoyed! Truthfully, not just the children, but the entire community is ecstatic and extremely grateful for all Sunu Foundation has been able to do for the school. Check out those sturdy walls, secure roof, windows with blinds, and doors! Students and teachers are safer, more comfortable, and feel better able to focus on their studies now that they are protected from the elements (and critters). How cool is it, that we can be a part of the reason these youth experience more academic success? The before and after photos of their classroom shows quite the difference! Give to the Max Day is a 24-hour fundraising day that encourages people to donate to nonprofits and schools all across Minnesota. This year, Give to the Max Day is Thursday, November 14. The day was created by GiveMN, an independent nonprofit organization launched in 2009 by the Minnesota Community Foundation. Not only does GiveMN host the annual Give to the Max Day, but the organization also helps nonprofits and schools fundraise year-round.  This year Sunu Foundation is honored to be a part of Give to the Max Day and we are hoping we can raise enough money to finish our Dogandou Elementary project.  The construction crew has almost finished building the new classroom. The project, unfortunately, will come to a standstill soon because quite honestly, we need about $1,500 to finish construction and to begin renovating the other two classrooms. […]

A week ago we held our first Sunu Foundation Fall Fundraiser at Park Tavern and had a great turn out, filling twelve lanes of bowlers! Huge thank you to Park Tavern for donating all the lanes so we could maximize our fundraising efforts for Dogandou Elementary School.  In attendance we had family, friends, coworkers, teammates, friends of friends- and let me tell you- it really warms our hearts that the Sunu Foundation’s mission is slowly being shared wider and wider. It was great to have all these people bowling and having fun in the name of making better educational opportunities for Senegalese youth across the globe.     We owe another big thank you to some local businesses for supporting Sunu Foundation and allowing us to offer fun prizes for the highest scores per game, most strikes, and most gutter balls. Honestly, the best deal is to find yourself a team to bowl with because you also get a pitcher of beer and pizza when you sign up!  There are prizes being given away too so don’t miss out!! Bowling For A Cause 9.14.19 Exciting news!! To date, we have been able to raise a little over $9,000 to support our mission of helping children in Senegal reach their dreams by supporting their educational needs!!! This means that Sunu Foundation can fund JAM Summer Camp for the same participants as last year (and hopefully any new young people that would like to attend) and purchase a year’s worth of school supplies to distribute at Gouye Mbaye Elementary School in Kebemere, Senegal for the second year. Sunu Foundation will additionally be able to distribute backpacks and school supplies to a new school, Dogandou Elementary School in Pire, Senegal. You asked, so we’re delivering!  Many supporters indicated at the Second Annual Sunu Friends and Family Event that they would love the chance to invite others to hear about Sunu’s mission to help with fundraising efforts. The Sunu Foundation is partnering up with Park Tavern this fall and we’re hosting a bowling party!!  Our next event will take place September 14th from 4-6pm at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park! The Sunu Foundation held our second annual summer fundraising event at the end of June to support our mission of helping the youth in Senegal. Everyone had a great time eating, drinking, and conversing while listening to tunes by DJ Pauly. Those in attendance enjoyed face painting, hair braiding, games, dancing, and viewing Senegalese artifacts. A definite highlight was the musical performance and drumming instruction by Ghana Mbaye. From the bottom of our hearts, we can’t thank you enough for making the event a success and coming out to support the Sunu Foundation. Without your generosity, we wouldn’t have been able to raise over $4,000.
